Admissions Overview
Families interested in enrolling at Richards Career Academy (RCA) are welcome to visit the school on Thursdays between 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Richards follows the enrollment guidelines set forth by Chicago Public Schools (CPS) for neighborhood high schools. More information can be found at this link.
Enrollment inquiries include the following steps:
- Completion of an enrollment application
- Signing a records release for Richards to obtain the student's previous academic records
- review of parent identification (license, state ID, City of Chicago ID, or Passport) as well as 2 forms of Proof of Address (lease/mortgage, utility bill, Medicare card, Voter Registration, Illinois Department of Public Aid Card)
- If this is the child's first time ever enrolling in a CPS school, a copy of the child's birth certificate is also required
Students who verifiably live in the attendance boundary of the school have a right to enroll at Richards. Students who do not live in the attendance boundary are not guaranteed admission. Students who live outside the attendance boundary will need to participate in an interview process with the school, along with additional records reviews (attendance, behavior, etc).
If or once accepted, students are scheduled to return and complete the enrollment process and a start date is identifed.
