Mr. Chu is a Chicago native and is a product of Chicago Public Schools. He attended the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Accountancy. He worked in public accounting for several years, but found his calling in education soon after and received a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Concordia University Chicago. He taught several years in CPS before working as an industry program manager for IBM under their P-TECH program. The program worked with underserved communities and offered internship and job opportunities to many first-generation college students. In addition to that program, he helped roll out a STEM lab program across the country and implemented a global budget process. Lastly, he worked briefly at the University of Chicago and their Career Advancement office before deciding to return to the classroom.

He now returns to CPS at Richards Career Academy teaching business academy and entrepreneurship classes with hopes to bring his work experience to the classroom and to help our students unlock their potential in business or a career of their choice.

On a personal note, Mr. Chu is married to Lizz, has two sons, and a Goldendoodle named Gus. He enjoys cooking, cheering for the White Sox & Bulls, and collecting Legos.
